In Australia, a dog trailer is a full trailer with its own front steering axle, most often towed behind a rigid truck as a "truck and dog". You'll see them behind tippers, tankers and agitators. A pig trailer has its axles grouped in the middle and a long drawbar.
Lenders often finance the truck and dog as a package, especially for civil and quarry work. If you already own the truck, the dog can be financed on its own. Tipper dogs work hard, so for used units lenders may ask about the body, hoist and running gear. Steady work, such as cartage contracts or regular quarry runs, helps the application.
Tip: make sure the truck is rated and set up to tow the dog you want, including coupling and brakes. A mismatch can mean extra costs before the combination can legally work.
